Easter Rally 10-14 April 2009

Please say a little prayer to the sun god and hope that he/she makes an appearance by the weekend.  As I type this the wind and rain are surpassing the claim of April Showers, Westlink road engineers have been spotted in wetsuits.  If you brave the weather then we will be waiting for you from 11.30am on Friday.  Please don’t arrive before that as the site must be prepared and the dry (drier) spots identified.  Vehicle movements on the grass will be restricted to save the ground if this rain continues.  Bring boots and bikinis, just in case.

Booking System
The booking system has had a few teething troubles in the early outings.  There are only a couple of sites to be booked, not counting the North West, so make sure you get your name down with Neil or cancel early if you can’t make it.  Email or written requests will work best.

The Inter DA Quiz, 12 February 2009

The quiz went on.  I was gutted to hear that County Down coped very well with out me, leading from the off.  Unfortunately they fell at the final hurdle and were narrowly beaten into second place by Bangor DA.  THE CDDA team had only one veteran of our past campaigns, Mr Brian Nicholl.  He was joined by new blood in the guise of Billy Glover, Angie Martin and Pat Harte.  Well done to the team and supporters and of course to Bangor.

www.cddaweb.co.uk
I have been busy fiddling about with the website to make it more usable of late.  The Google maps are proving beneficial, according to those who have used them and I’ve added steward and cost details to these when known.  Part of my difficulty is getting the information and then posting all onto the website myself.

The google calendar hasn’t been used as much and so I will discontinue that - it also required me to enter the same information in a different format and was therefore proving a waste of time.  Google maps and specifically street view has been in the news lately.  Keep an eye out for them in your street.

I added a “Credit Crunch” section where you could advertise sales or wanteds - I’m not sure if it has been of any use but feel free to use it more.

My last piece of work was to add a Forum to the website.  This is an area where you can post your comments, questions, suggestions, ideas or general musings.  It isn’t as difficult as you might think.  Please register on the forums. You can create a user name (a nickname) and provided you use a valid email address you can activate your account.  Please use the same email you registered to CDDAweb with as I will be able to bulk email using the forums for quick reminders.

The forums, sometimes called a Bulletin Board or discussion Board has been divided into broad topic areas to make reading easier.  As people use it to post hints and tips or ask for help it grows into a very informative read for everybody.  Give it a go, just do what you normally do - talk about camping and caravanning, share any deals and bargains that you hear of for all to benefit.

See you around
